The Emirates Identity Authority has held a joint meeting with the Telecommunications Regulatory Authority (TRA) in the presence of H.E. Dr. Eng. Ali Mohamed Al Khouri, Emirates ID Director General, and H.E. Mohammed Nasser Al Ghanem, Director General of TRA.
The meeting discussed the current situation of the digital identity project and means of activating its applications in the federal institutions, particularly those related to the identity card’s advanced features of verifying the identities of individuals through the use of the PIN code and fingerprint.
The meeting also discussed the benefits of using the digital signature feature offered by this project which can add a new security dimension to online transactions, using advanced verification features.
Meanwhile, the two sides agreed to form a joint committee to study the general framework, according to which the digital identity project will be operated, including the legal and legislative frameworks for the technologies of digital certificates, electronic coding and digital signature.
It is worthwhile that the recent regular meeting of the steering committee for the activation of electronic ID applications project had discussed the most significant updates of the project, the stages of completion of the work plan and the already fulfilled requirements of linkage with Abu Dhabi Systems and Information Centre (ADSIC).
At the end of the meeting, which was attended by H.E. Eng. Nasser Mohamed Al Mazrouei, ICT Executive Director, and Mr. Mohamed Al Rudaini, Information Security Director, Emirates Identity Authority, token gifts were exchanged between the two sides.
